About Windows

<operating system>
Microsoft's proprietary
window system and
user interface
software released in 1985 to run on top of
MS-DOS. Widely criticised
for being too slow (hence "Windoze",
"Microsloth
Windows") on the machines available then.

Windows is designed for the PC (IBM and clones of) world. Without an operating
system the computer will not work. When you turn on your computer, (boot) and all is finished,
your computer comes to rest at the Desk Top screen. From this screen, you will be able to
control the computer.
